Just wanted to share.

It's been a while since I setup a tank from scratch and it's been fun, as always a learning experience, who sais you can teach an old dog new ticks.....lol

Basic hardware, standard 90, old fashioned acrylic wet-dry filter stocked with bio-ball, bio cubes and pot scrubbers powered by an internal Eheim pump. Added a ph meter to keep an eye on things real time. With standard 2 fluorescent reptisun 5 uvb bulbs for lighting. heater to keep temp at 80F.

Aquascape, fine whitish gravel, a few large bowlders, couple of large mazanita pieces of wood wrapped with flame and christmas moss and anubias (nana & barteri) for green.

Stocked with 5 Medium (6" vertical) wild Peruvian Angels and 6 sae.  Those Angels are so cool, i really like them. Seemed a bit more aggressive that the standard homegrown variety. hummmm.

ps: this is the first time i add fish like this from the get go.  Hope things work out okay. will be testing daily for ammonia/nitrites

Additives, Dirty floss from my existing filter for seeding, Expensive tetra SafeStart plus, 6.5 buffer and prime.

Because these are wild angels not sure if i should add prazipro for internal worms.  Will wait and see.

Stay tune.

Cheers.

I have Peruvian angels too and they're ridiculously skiddish, they freak out very easily.  But I would recommend you properly cycle the tank, or add an established filter (not just the floss) before adding the angels, especially considering they are messy eaters.

Thanks for the Tip. I should have mentioned, All the Filter medias are from an established tank. Not sure i can do anything additional at the moment except keep conditions stable.  Regarding the skiddiness, these guys are not too bad, I told my friend to restrict the activity in front the tank until they settle in, will keep an eye on things.

First morning observation, ammonia/nitrites at 0, pH at 6.67, temperature much higher than anticipated, 86.7, decided to leave it alone for now, they should be able to handle it and it may actually be beneficial.  I'll bring it down gradually in a week or so.

Cheers!

Not sure if I'm over reacting, but you got me thinking....

Can't hurry Mother nature. The cycle is inevitable, the question will be how drastic and how long.

Given the sensitive nature of these guys, I will attach a 55 refugium on my existing system at home just in case.

I may actually move them there until the storm is over.

Cheers.

;) Good thinking, hope it works out, because when these guys grow to full size, they get huge are absolutely stunning fish.

It's done, they're in the Refugium.

Now we wait!

The key thing in keeping WC angel from being spook and stuff is lighting. Since where they come from is cover in tannis water and plant so not much light passes through. People tend to have the greatest activities is when they keep the tank dim. So in that term keep slow growing plant SAE will try to out compete your angel for food once grown up. I would recommend getting a small schooling group of fish to help keep the angel at bay.

Thanks!

yeh that's another reason why i decided to move them.  I was not pleased with the layout, this way it gives me move flexibility to do more fine tuning without disrupting things.

Regarding dither fish, I am thinking of a medium group (20+) harlequin rasboras.  Note sure if its too many and still debating if I'm gonna move them in first after the tank has cycled before putting back the angles to give them a better chance of adjustment. Also not sure how sensitive they are to water conditions.  Oh well, more reading....LOL

Cheers!
