Set up tank

 My daughter bought an old 30g long with stand and canopy recently. Old enough that the plastic footer and header are beige. I set up to test and has held water for 24 + hours. Would you use this tank or buy new.

How does the silicone look? Intact? Any bubbles? Coming apart?

Bottom corner missing plastic on face part. About an inch but bottom foot part intact.  no visible bubbles, however looks like one corner might have been resealed

How tall is it? If its 12" or less you're good re the plastic bit. As for seams, usually you want a clean seam thats not patched in sections (silicone/silicone doesn't adhere well). Personally I think a reseal would be a good idea but whether its worth the effort for it is another thing altogether.

tanks like that are pretty cheap. Just for the peace of mind, i'd get a new one

I was at Big Al's earlier today and a 30 gallon long was about $60.00.

 Thanks all. My daughter won't like to here it but the cost of a new one and the peace of mind is worth a new tank. $75.00 is a small price to pay vs what could be thousands in damage. It will be on an upper floor. If it was in the basement I might feel different. On the up side she is hooked on the hobby.

yeah, I don't generally put a whole lot of trust in used tanks - especially as old as the one you're talking about.
