Banana plants?

Does anyone else keep banana plants  (Nymphoides aquatica)??

I'm just curious whether you have planted your roots at all in the substrate or just leave them on top.  I've seen some photos of people that completely bury their roots, but mine are just sitting on top of the substrate and the plants are doing great.

I've been told you can just let them sit on top of the substrate. And if by roots you're referring to the 'bananas' they're actually more like bulbs than roots. Roots will grow independently of them... Besides, if you bury them it takes away from the novelty I think.

I agree with you about the novelty - I was just wondering what other people do.
