50G new tank setup with miracle gro organic top soil ( will update )

This is after day 1,   

Added a wall of gravel + 1½ inch soil and capped with 1½ inch gravel.

Running 2 filters   Aquaclear 70 and Fluval 205

Will be putting in more plants once the water clears up , If it clears up lol

I will be interested to know how you are doing.  This is pretty much what I just setup.  On my side, on inch of top soil and one inch at the very most of play sand.  The 3 Corys seem to enjoy the sand

How is your water color at the moment?    I was thinking for the next week days doing 50% water changes everyday to try and remove that brown color

It's pretty crystal clear.  I did not do any water change.

lucky,   I did 1 water change 25%   No luck   was still brown,   then I got frustrated today and did 90% water change,  Now its crystal clear.

Lol indeed, looking good.
When I set up the tank, I filled it up with 6 inches of water to confirm it was level then drained it but left about 1/4 of an inch of water.  I was too lazy to sponge this out.  Then I put the soil and let it absorb the water for over 24 hours.  My sand was not completely cleaned yet and needed more rinsing.  Then I put the sand, and the plants and added water.
