So i'm emptying my reef aquarium and going back to plants only.

I've had more fun since november with my little planted tank than I have had for a long time with my reef

So I'll probably buy a 90 or 120 gallon tank.

I'd like to get 6 or 8 angels, preferably looking all the same. I want it to look like a natural pack

Any breeder in the region?

I would have liked to get altum angels, but I have read that they are hard to keep. Is that true?

We have allot of sponsors that sell freshwater fish.  If you are looking for a private breeder please post an ad in the looking for section (as per the forum rules).
I haz reef tanks.

You won't find too many altums in the Ottawa area, but you might find LFS's carrying peruvian angels, not the same but a close match and much hardier. BTW, a 90 or 120g are both tall tanks for plants. You'll want to consider some strong lighting to penetrate more than 24" unless you're planning low maintenance plants.

I was considering using the same setup I have on my reef, but different color

For a 24x18x24h tank, I use 50w multichip LED. It's not far from a 150w halide. Should that do?

If not, I guess i'll take a 75g

The challenge with the reef lights will be colour temperture, they might be too "blue" for plants.  They would probably would be perfect for the depth though.
I haz reef tanks.

I have both a 75 and 90 gallon, both planted.  I find the 75 easier to maintain since it's not as high.

The intensity should be fine but like Stu said, the colour temp for aesthetic pruposes will be off. You may not like the look. Blue penetrates deeper than the other colour temps. But plants also benefit from a wider range spectrum, including red.

I`m assuming by different color, you are saying same fixture different spectrum bulbs?
I have read a lot of post on various planted forums, the verdict is still out there, most say the extra 3 inches does not make any difference to the plants, something I subscribe to.
I personally use a 4X 54 watt T5 HO Tex light fixture on my 79 gallon which from the lowest point of my substrate bed is 17 inches from the top of the tank, my fixture is 6 inches from the top of the tank & could probably be better if it was 8 inches from the top, in short I really don`t think you have an issue with penetration.

Yes by different color I meant a different spectrum. I can remove the 16k led and replace it with a 8000k

I believe the intensity should be enough. I have kept a clam in my reef on the bottom of a 24 inch high tank
