If you have a 30X18 tank (55 gallon), how many pounds of substrate should you put in it?

Like Mike said, it depends on what type of fish or look you want to get. I like around 2" deep but that is probably not enough if you want to have some wrasses (with the exception of a cleaner wrasse). A few people even go with no substrate because it is easier to keep clean.

Im not sure what is going in it, for now, nothing. It could stay being a reef tank for quite some time.
P.S. Please indicate how many pounds will be needed to build to the required depth, this is mostly so I don't overbuy.
