Hiya Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has kept or is keeping any of the great cichlids from Madagascar.

I had a nice Paratilapia polleni a number of years ago. Gorgeous fish, aggressive, but stunning with the pitch black and a bright with spots.

I have looked at a few of the Paretroplus as well, the merarambo and dambabe remind me of saltwater tangs, and I think it would be neat to have. But the ones I am really interested in are the P. nourissati. I love the colour, and the facial shape of them.  Apparently, they are tough to breed, but that is half the fun.

Unfortunately, for a number of reasons, we don't see any of them often in Ottawa. The polleni are normally available, but the others are pretty rare. Partly because of price, rarity (most are considered  endangered or at best threatened), and the fact that most of them are unremarkable grey/brown fish at young ages.

Anyone have any experience with any of these fishes?
