hey all i was wondeirng i finally got my port cichlids to spawn an i wanna keep them but they are in a tank right now with a jack a convict an 2 oscars who all want to eat them could it be possible to move them to a 10 gallon tank the eggs havnt hatched yet but could i just move the rocka nt he male an female to the 10 gallon tank ?

never having kept those fish, I would guess the best thing to do would be to move the rock and leave the parents..I would guess if you move them all the parents might not realize they are their eggs anymore

If you do decide to move the rock you should ensure that there is some mild water circulation in the small tank as the parents will not be fanning the eggs. Otherwise fungus may set in. When the parents see this they sometimes eat the affected eggs to prevent it from spreading. I would consider adding a fungicide to prevent it altogether. It will not harm the fry.
-thankful for a tankfull-

Hmm i might just do that i have baby guppis in my fry tank right now but they are old enough to go in the tropical so the water is already cycled with a sponge filter an i belive they were also layed today the eggs that i found so it should be like 3 or 4 days till hatching ??? if im nto mistakin i mihgt just leave them in the big tank for another day or 2 just till they hatch
