Hi, I have a maxi jet 600 which has been running non stop for 4 months- it has become quite loud.
How long is the lifespan of these pumps?

Do you have a foam prefilter on it, or something that could be restricting the water flow?  Although I haven't been running mine for any period of time, mine got loud when the foam I attached got dirty.  As soon as I cleaned it, it was fine again.

There was some bubble algae lodged in the intake restricting flow.
I cleaned it and it's silent again.

Reseat the impellor in the housing after a good cleaning.  If it doesn't get quiet, then you might have impellor damage...

Don't bother getting a new impellor, as it is 2/3 of the cost of a new powerhead
