Where to find healthy guppies?

Hi,

I used to go to Big Al's (East) to get my guppies. Some of them were sick so at this point I have only one male guppy in my aquarium. Usually there is at least one dead guppy in Big Al's guppy aquarium. Petsmart is even worse.

I have a 10 g aquarium. Any idea where to buy?

Do I have enlough space to mix my guppies with any other fish?

Let me know. Thanks.

There's always quality guppies at each fish club auction, fourth monday of every month except december and the summer months

I've found I've only had luck with 2nd generation fish- my females always died after a few sets of fry. I've stared raising the fry, giving away all the males and buying new males (trying my best to avoid inbreeding). The grown-up fry seem to do great, but they've only been in 2 tanks their wholelives so I'm sure that makes a difference. Hope that helps!

That is very true. 2nd generation has a privilege to be exposed to two tanks only. And cause of that it s very tough to chose a right fish from my fish store. That's why private sales (or OVAS auction should) be a better way to go.
