Was wondering if i can keep South American Cichlids in 7.2-7.6 water? in a 65 gallon tank (48x18X20)

like:
Green Terrors
Flowerhorn
Firemouth
Jack Dempsy

also how many can i fit...

Thanks

If you add some driftwood and/or peat, your pH should go down to below 7, which is fine for the large american cichlids.

Start very modestly with your SA/CA cichlids...  You don't have a huge tank... for example, only one fully grown oscar would be happy in that tank.

Do you want mating pairs, or individual fish?

I don't know that I'd put a firemouth in the same tank as a green terror and/or a jack.

Firemouths are relatively non-aggressive for a cichlid...  I wouldn't have a problem putting a firemouth in with say, blue acaras... but not sure about a green terror or a jack...

hmmm thanks i need to think about this!!

That's why they say an oscar is not a fish but a PET. :)

hahaha yup thats right lol

an also Marx if ya are goin for an oscar i know of i full grown black oscar in the super pet in kanata that needs a new home he is packed in a aquarium with about 30 or so africain cichlids an he barly swim in there he is in excellent condition

Marx

well i don't think i can have to many full grown fish in a 65gal long tank lol..

like 3 tops lol..

maybe i'll hit africans..

StylinT

no ya cant but ya could have 1 large oscar an a small tank buddy like a Jack Dempsey or a pleco or convicts something that will hold his own against an oscar
