FYI for those looking for black sand

Just a heads up that someone had mentioned on the forums about being able to acquire black sand blasting sand from a place near Lebreton Flats.

The place is called Merkley Supply, and they do carry black sandblasting sand in 14 and 20 grit.  The sand is inert.

However:

THE SAND WILL BE MAGNETICALLY ATTRACTED.

This means if you happen to accidentally stir it up, and it gets into your impellor, say goodbye to your filter.

Also, since this is sandblasting sand, it WILL scratch your glass easily if you aren't careful.

A cheap alternative at 7 dollars for 40 kilos... but ensure you are using air-driven sponge filters and are EXTREMELY careful when cleaning.
