How much weight can I get away with?

I want to get a bigger tank in November and am trying to decide how much weight my floors can take. I live in a 3 story apt (I'm on the 3rd floor so it wouldn't be funny if an aquarium went through my floor) which is about 10 years old. Anyone have experience or have an idea of how much weight I can get away with? The tank won't be placed on an outside wall (I saw someone mentioned that in another thread). I want at least a 66 gallon, but would like to go a bit higher if possible. Anyone have any ideas?  There will be lots of rocks too...

If placed on a proper stand that properly distributes the weight, you'll be fine.  That size of tank or even a big bigger, with a flat bottomed stand (no legs), you can pretty much not think about it.

To be safer, yes, place against a load-bearing wall, and place across the joists of a wood floor (as opposed to along them).

We use to live on the 3rd floor as well of an appartment building and we managed to have against supporting walls: a 75 gallon salt water plus 75 lbs of live rock and a 90 gallon freshwater.

All went fine, our landlord even said we had amazing aquariums!
