Diatom filter powder info

Just a heads up for anyone using diatom filters:  if you would like to buy cheap powder, Mermaid Pools on Ogilvie has a 25 pound bag for $31 including tax.  this should last you 5 years. this is a Heck of a lot of diatom powder.   I am assuming other pool stores have it for about the same price.  You can also buy a 50 pound bag of it at Ritche Feed and Seed for $50 something, they sell it as insecticide.
this stuff is exactly the same as the Vortex Diatom Powder at big als. its diatomaceous earth, period.   However you have to be very careful not to breath it in, there is a lot of dust in the large bags. I just pull my shirt over my mouth and nose as I put it in the filter.
