tank top lips

Does anyone know if you can get the top lip for tanks? I have a 20 gal that has no top cap/lip (it's just the glass) for me to put a glass top on and I'd really like to get one. The original light/hood sat on the glass directly but I've since discarded it so that I could set up better lights. Any ideas or leads would be helpfull. I'm not going to go out and buy a new tank with a top lip since that would be a waste of money but if I could get  that upper lip that would be great.

Big als sells them for 25$ is perfecto lid.  all glass.. great stuff.. might be cheaper then i qouted..

Marx... motoman is talking about the plastic trim on the top of the tank that runs around the glass.

I'm not sure where you'd get 'em motoman.. but if you find out, let me know.. I have a tank with some cracked trim I'd like to replace.

ohhh sorry.. i have a 20gal plastic lid and light strip.. i think it 24" top... is that what your looking for?

Marx... it's not a hood/top.

Take a bare tank... there is a 1 inch strip of trim at the base of the tank and at the top of the tank.  If the trim wasn't there... the top of the tank would be bare glass....

That's what we are talking about here.  It's the piece of trim that is put on the tank when the tank is manufactured.

Exactly what I'm talking about. Sorry for the confusion or bad description. Now to just find a supplier for them! If I find one I'll post the info for all you folks.

P.S. Marx the wood and plants look awesome! I redid my 20 gal yesterday with the pool and and substrate so I'm excited to see how things go!

What kind of pool sand did you use?  What colour is it?  Where did you get it?  How much does it cost?

Try Superpet if it's a Hagen tank.  They can order all sorts of random parts... I'm not 100% sure that you can get the replacement lip trim, but it's worth a shot.

yeah I am pretty sure SP can get those, I beleive I have ordered one before for someone..talk to tyler before wednesday about it and if we can get it, it will be in hopefully at most 2 weeks

Ok that's great info folks. I'll give them a call and see about getting the lip.
I used pool sand that Marx suggested. It's available at Mermaid pools and cost me a whopping $9.15 total. It's a mixed brown colour and doesn't get sucked up into your syphon when you vacume your tank.

Here are some pics of my 10 gal with the play sand (now just a quarantine tank) and I'll post my new 20 gal setup next.
