For those of us that are salt noobies, maybe you could give a little explanation of what a flatworm is and how they kill the tank?  It might allow us to try and avoid the same fate.

veron

in to deep to ever give up LOL. ;)
FLATWORMS,[planairia]the red/brown small little flat guys can come in on coral, liverock or anything else from a LFS or friend. they can disappear on there own but if conditions are right they can explode by fission.
theydon't ''feed'' on coral but will cover everything like a blanket.
sometimes they will crash on there own wiping everyting out with the toxins they secrete. its fast. I let them grow hoping they would disappear or a few wrasses would take them out.

Thanks for the info.  Don't think I have seen any in my nano yet.

Hopefully you never do see them.

Sorry to hear about the crash vernon.
Did you do a water change and run carbon according to the directions? Just wondering if this actually did help with the toxins.

veron

yep, water change ,carbon and ammonia remover. [missing fish]
all is lost as of yesterday morning. actually a few LPS seem to be coming back but all SPS are done :'(

sniggir

Sorry to hear.  Start again; your tank will be as beautiful as before.

Life is too short to wake up with regrets.  So love the people who treat you right.  Forget about the one's who don't.  Believe everything happens for a reason.  If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands.  If it changes your life, let it.  Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

OUCH glad i got some corals of you before the tank crash  :-X

Dam flatworm.. i made sure i exterminated them before i put your coral in my tank.

Sorry to hear your lost... what a shame

veron

luckily the worms don't really stick to live coral tissue but they can sometimes on LPS.
