Zoanthids Killing My brain

I have a beautiful favia brain that I have had for six years now. I bought a silly little zoanthid frag for $10 and wedged it into a crack in the rocks. My current is so strong it blew the zoo along until it wedged itself under my brain. In a matter of hours it started to burn the brain and once I noticed it I moved it. It has been several days now and the damage on the brain continues to spread. I don't want to loose  this coral, especially over a $10 frag that has now disappeared in the tank. Anybody have any ideas as to how to stop the damage from spreading further? See pic below. Note tese pictures were taken a few years apart.

Az, how would you break something like that up without doing further damage to it?

It looks like the zoos caused some initial damage, but now that they have been moved any further tissue loss would most likely be due to some kind of infection. I agree with Az, the best bet would be to use a clean razor blade and cut the tissue about a 1/4 of an inch back. Then either peel off the infected tissue, or break off the rock with a chisel.  I would personally try peeling the tissue, to keep the rock so that maybe the healthy brain will grow back over it in time.
Good luck,
Gord.

come to my house!! .   same thing happened to my brain which was same size roughly.  top started dying, i dont know why though.  so I fragged it!  there was also a pistol shrimp living in it.  when it died it was under PC, i put the frags right under T5 HO, now they are under MH and doing fine.  theres 2 halves and one frag, i'll post a pic of the other half later.  just use a hammer and chisel, be prepared for a stinky mess

PS also notice the hydnophora next to the gorg, theres some anemone damage.  it also had a minor infection which went from the tip and took out the whole branch. damn anemone!

best if you use a saw, it would be a clean and accurate cut with very little mess, hope this helps.

It has been a few days now and it seems the damage has stopped advancing. I am really happy I didn't take any power tools to this coral. I doubt that it will be able to regrow in time to cover the dead part before algae sets in as it is already starting to. I might try and take a toothbrush and keep the dead section clean until the coral can regenerate. Have a look at the link below, for some reason I can't seem to load the picture, so a kink will have to do. The left is the original picture I posted on Tuesday, the right is the coral today (Saturday). I apologize for the dirty glass.
