This is an amazing link.  It shows a lot of different arowanas, some in schools in ponds, and a lot of them harvesting fry form the adults...I think the males hold the eggs.  Check it out!

and they are microchipped! plus certificates ....so yeahhhhhh I'd expect to pay more than your "average" fish ;)

yup that is because the Asian wild arawana is indangered.... in asia this fish is a sign of luck and prosparity..... so as what we as people do best almost wiped them out so it is a pertected species and you can only own bred arawana's... and you have to show proof that they are not WC... when they are imported and as mention you need them to be chipped, and a sighties permit to get them into the country
