Okay, who here has had experience with these or has one? ???

Okay, who here is wondering WTF I'm talking about when I say Paludarium?  :D

Well, I was considering transforming one of my tanks into one.
Anyone here have advice, pointers, or perhaps other questions for the experts to ask?

(*and I even did a search here to see if Paludarium would show up before making this thread!)

I dont know all too much, but a friend of mine is dwelling into the world of paludariums in the near future. I will be giving him a hand, and can give you info along the way I guess. What size tank do you plan on converting?

If you did a site search you should have found a decent amount of information as we have talked about this in the past.  Kennyman has one and a couple of other people might also.

Not sure what tank I will do this with, but it may be my 100 gallon, so lots of room to make a landscape  :)

I did.
If you notice thats the last thing I wrote in my opening post.
When I tried searching it, it said there were not matches which is why I started this thread.

Make sure you are on the main page of the forum when you do the search, it's a bit of a wonky feature of the search engine it seems. I found several threads when I did a search from there.

NetCop

That "wonky feature"   :) would explain the why I got no results.

And here I was making sure to use the top search bar... oh well, now everyone knows I am freshly thinking about this topic.

Who knows, because of this it may also become informative for newbies who never even heard the word 'Paludarium' and woudl have never thought of looking it up.

what do you plan on putting in it? with fish they are confined to the water ( obviously) but newts and frogs are very good because they can go anywhere. i was lookin into this a while ago but none of my tanks were large enough, 100 gallons should be perfect. are you going to plant on land and in the water?

I actually don't know if I'll go outside of the fish world.
My intentions were more or less to make a hobby/conversation peice out of it when it is done having my fish swimming around and plants growing so it looks kinda like a river bank.

Well, there's no denying that to do this, you need to have a lot of spare time.  I took me maybe 6-10 hours to make my little exo-terras... I can't imagine how long a 100g would take! But I think it's worth it... you're better off doing than watching TV or whatever.

I got a lot of ideas from http://www.dendroboard.com/... they also have a lot of larger tanks.  I love your idea of a 100g riverbank!
