Fibre Optic Lighting

been wondering the stores, for some moonlighting ideas, and this idea hit me.

Fibre Optic Lighting....  optic threads can be placed underwater, and no risk of electrical shocks, they can prob be run anywhere, where you want moon lights.

kinda cool idea, but has anyone done this?  i did a quick search here, but seems no one done it before or even ask question about it.   anyone know what the cost is?  the good, the bad? just curious.
