Hey

Just wondering if anyone else has made or bought a metal fitting that goes on the python.  The green plastic threaded end that screws on to the brass fitting in the tap, ALWAYS strips on me after months of use.

Its just a hassle having to replace it all the time.  Has anyone adapted that peice to metal or brass?  Any FAQ's or can you buy them somewhere?

Thanks

here is a great way to stop having to constantly screw and un-screw your python.  I've done this as well and it works great.

Perfect, thanks.

However how does this part connect to the brass adapter that needs to screw into the tap head?

sdivell

it is a quick release system.

The quick release part is permanetly screwed into your plastic python 'female' top.
The adapter is permanetly installed into whatever faucet you use for water changes. (For me its my downstairs guest bathroom)

Everytime I do a water change you just snap the quick release onto the adapter by pulling down on the plastic ring and putting it onto the adapter and releasing...takes about 5 seconds.

Ahh well I can't have a quick release peice on my powder room washroom faucet all the time, the wife would be out to kill. :)

why is that?  nothing will be affected.  water will still come out of the tap as normal.

Well how do you figure, it will be a large open hole so the water will spray out hard as opposed to the screen end cap that is needed now on the faucet (picture a high end faucet not a stainless steel standard faucet)?

if you talk with the guy at the home depot or rona he can probably get you a filterd fitting that'll work for the quick release.  I have one in my kitchen for a portable dishwasher.

worth a try, saves the hassel of stripping that plastic fitting

Hmm ok will check that out....although I can always take the quick release fitting off and on from the tap yet leave the one on the plastuic fitting in for good, hmm thats a better idea!  8)
