Im wondering if a 55g reef tank , Having SPS,LPS,SOFTIES,FISH and Invert and Anemones and other reef stuff would survive under these condition

   4X T-8 25w 6500k   36 Inches
   4X T-10 30w Actinic  36 Inches

Total 220w of light ...

Let me know

groan

i wouldnt go 6500, go for 10000.
6500 is too yellow for a reef, it will look terrible.

to me that sounds good though, but people here will tell you to with T5s

redbelly

My 33g had a tanning bed of T8's and T12's just as you are currently suggesting using.

The trick to using T8/T12 daylights is that you want to check their cri rating. Some bulbs its really low, some its decent. Aim for a cri of 92 or higher.

Unfortunately you cant get 10K bulbs for a low price. With the price of these bulbs you might as well go with T5's.

And this is certainly a case of not all watts are creatd equal. A 4' 54W T5HO puts out WAY more light than a 4' 40W T12.
