we had another database issue tonight. I don't know for sure but I suspect that we lost more posts/pm.
I'll be following up on this.

beowulf

Yes we have.  It is weird my post count did not go down but there is a bunch of posts missing from the boards.

beowulf

Actually the posts are still there but if you look at the main board is says for example 0 posts in a thread but if you open the thread the posts are still in it.

groupie02

I will force a recount... hold on 2 minutes

beowulf

Looks like that work APW (part deux).

groupie02

could you check once more please.

Vizerdrix

Why has the site been so unstable lately, Pierre?  Seems like a heck of a lot of crashes in very little time...

groupie02

hehehe... because I do stuff.

Seriously, we need to upgrade most of the components which make our web site work but before we do that we need to clean up some of the old stuff that's just laying around.

I'm not 100% convinced that some of our out-of-date software is not responsible for the corruption.

What's your time frame on this?  Just curious, wondering how long we can expect the site to keep blowing up! ;)

groupie02

I have a single maintenance task for which I would not normally take the site offline but given the last outage, I will do that. It should only last a couple of minutes. This should come at some point this week.

After that, I will let everyone know about my plan for the upgrades. Nobody likes outages, me first. Better planned maintenance than outages.

beowulf

I was just getting a message telling me the site has surpassed it's CPU quota please contact site admin.

dan2x38

I was out for awhile with different error messages...

And interestingly enough, the Photo Contest thread refuses to mark itself read.

Edit: This is freaky, several of the threads are now refusing to show as read, I got an error message while posting, but my message was there (almost double posted, I think this is what happened to Dan in the workshop thread), but it didn't register as being posted until just now.

Is the site going into the twilight zone?

groupie02

this is all so strange. I'm not worried about the CPU limit exceeded. That's something I understand.
I'll try to find some clues for the other stuff. Maybe the upgrades will come sooner than later.

dan2x38

All night was unable connect for longer then 5 - 10 minutes... Maybe send an Alert and take the site off line for a whole day and complete all upgrades? A planned outage.

I placed the site in maintenance mode around 10:30pm yesterday. It stayed that way until around 6am today. I believe that you wouldn't have been able to login during the maintenance. The pages you were able to access would have been in your cache.

dan2x38

No I could not even get a view after 10 I kept trying every 1/2 hr. or so... adds up now... better you then me Pierre...  8)
