I sent the usedottawa poster a message,

QuoteKeeping bass is against the law. Do not release the fish back into the wild.

I got the links from the sunfish post from a little while back.

I think that person is not intentionally to break the law. Frankly, I don;t know this will break the law until I saw your post.  :o

Before you go about making accusation check to make sure that the Quebec side has the same laws.  You are quoting Ontario laws but the guy lives in Quebec.  I have not clue but it might be different laws with regards to this.

OttawaFolkFestivum

Yeah - I sounded a little harsh? I should have made the intention is to spread the word about the rules more than point out the flaws in others.  I actually sent him a follow-up note saying that I just wanted to let him know so a conservation officer doesn't show up at his door.

But yeah bojon, it's illegal. AFAIK It's actually illegal to travel with live game fish at all. If you have a boat with a live well, you are suppose to kill the fish you are going to eat once you get to shore and then trailer home.

wow - I never knew that - of course I never catch anything decient enough to warrant even attempting to eat it. Plus - in some of the areas now a days - I wouldn't WANT to eat it even if i had a choice!!!!!

yeah - they are taking the invasive species thing pretty seriously.

Here's the Quebec link;

It's a little confusing...
QuoteLIVE FISH – Anglers may keep alive, on site, for the length of their stay, fish taken at a given fishing site depending on the fishing season, daily fishing quotas and possession limits authorized for the area. Transportation of live bait-fish is allowed in certain zones

The bolding is on the original website as well. It says it can be alive on-site (i.e. livewell or stringer?) - but I couldn't find where it states that it has to be killed in order to transport. Might be a more clear statement somewhere.

I believe it's supposed to be implied, as I doubt they want to explicitly state that people have to kill the fish.
