Trimming java fern

Is it OK to trim back the long brown roots from a java fern? If so, how much?

I'd like to know this as well.  I've done it and the plants have seemed ok, but wanting to confirm.

I've done it quite a bit.  I think they are more for anchoring the plant than uptake of nutrients, but that's just a guess from me.  All I know is the plant kept growing at the same rate and grew back the threads anyways.

I've always trimmed the extra roots... it will slow the growth some but not much... it's all good!
