Considering Ottawa's soft water, what are people using to simulate Tanganyikan or Malawian water chemistry in their tanks?

This applies in general...

To increase GH use EPSON SALT (not sure of exact dosage yet).
To increase KH use BAKING SODA (not sure of exact dosage yet).  

You can also use CaCO3 to increase GH and KH but it tends to cloud the water for a day as you know.
