identification Please

Can someone tell me what this plant is?  (the tall one)  and what I do with the long piece growing out the middle? 

It looks like a tall sword plant of some sort.

Here is another link: http://www.tropica.dk/productcard_1.asp?id=074B Do some Googling. It will turn into a flower hopefully. Can also collect seeds from it to propogate. I have this plant it is a beauty for sure and not that available usually - take care of it.

Is that the plant you got from me? Dan is right, its an amazonas sword plant 'red rubin'. Dont cut the flower stalk. It will eventually make its way back down to the bottom of the tank and grow new little sword plantlets.
