I got a question.  Should I do a black out against BGA?  Should I still do the fertilizer even in a blackout ? I already know not to feed the fish.  But I want to know how the blackout will affect my (finally growing nicely) plants. :)

and I guess that's a few questions  ;)

BGA is actually a bacteria not an algae. Remove as much of it has you can by hand. The cause is usually over feeding or some other organic source and/or poor water circulation. I hand removed it, fixed the cause, and did water changes. I also have a UV sterlizer so I used it too. You can use an antibiotic but it will kill off your bio-filter. You could take the media out of the filter and put in another filter running on a tank.

A blackout should be your first attempt. You don't need to fertilize; due to the dark your plants won't grow. Most moderate light plants like crypts and swords can handle a week blackout without any problems. High light plants are a different story, most will suffer already after a a day or two without light - making a blackout useless.

Running an airstone during blackout is a good idea.

Well I have some fast growers. Nothing to finicky so I'll do the blackout first. Thanks guys ;)

Just remember no peeking , no feeding , no anything during the blackout period, a good cleaning & water change before & after the blackout.
Also keep in mind you still need to address the root cause after the blackout, or you run the risk of it coming back.
Good luck
