Octopus skimmer

I have tried to contact the company and tried googling it but have had absolutely no luck/ I recently purchased a BH-300F Octopus skimmer with surface skimmer. I can not for the life of me figure out how to use the damm thing.  I have tried to hang it on the back of my tank but it does not seem right. I asked the guy in teh store if my tank needs to be drilled he said "no" With taht being said I do not know how to work the damm thing. This is really starting to get on my nerves. If anyone has any knowledge about this skimmer please let me know. Thanx!

I assume it works the same as the 100 so hang it over the edge of the tank with the two grey PVC tubes hanging in the water then fill up the first chamber (the one on the end with the pump) with tank water until the level is approx. 8 inches high. Make sure the small square overflow box is below the waterline.

You then insert the little 6 inch tube into the hole (John Guest fitting) below the blue valve and turn the valve to the open position. You'll know it's the open position because you'll be able to suck air through it.

Plug in the unit and use the little tube to suck all of the air from the intake (the part with the little box overflow) until you get a mouthful of water. Immediately close the valve to trap the water in the intake and the water should begin flowing into the unit on its own.

It may take a few tries so keep a bucket nearby to spit out the saltwater cause it's kinda gross.

Good luck, I think they're great skimmers, nice and quiet.

By the way make sure the collection cup is not sitting too deep in the spray as it will fill up very quickly with water (like an hour or two) and possibly flow over.

Someone will amend this if I've forgotten anything.

Alternatively,
a) remove the gray silencer canister.
b) connect the other end of the blue tube to the air intake tube.
c) turn on the pump (skimmer)
the pump should suck all the air out and the syphon should start.(no bubbles will be produced as water is being aspirated)
-be prepared to add more water from the tank if the syphon does not start.
d) close the valve and disconnect the blue tube, (bubbles should start right away)
e) reconnect the silencer.
