Can anyone recommend a cool running in sump pump for a 75 gallon - from sump to top of tank is approx 4 feet.

I'm pretty sure I have a quiet one 3000 but my tank these days without the lights on is hitting 80 degrees.

Thanks for any tips.

What temperature do you normally target?  I run my tank at 80 all the time.

I believe the Quiet One pumps do run pretty cool, certainly less heat than a Mag, so I don't know that you could do better.

Look at wattage's and the pump head / gph curves I guess. If your comparing two pumps, and one is using a higher wattage to achieve the same thing, it's going to be losing more heat.

I think 80 degrees is no problem at all... if with the lights on though you are in the 82+ range, that is probably less than desirable long term.. although a lot of stuff will tolerate 85ish with no problems for a short time.
