Where did you get your big tanks?

I'm going to be looking for a larger tank in not too long. And I'm mainly interested in just the tank. I want to do the rest myself for the most part, to give me projects to keep busy with and to save a bit of money on some of the stuff. (Besides, the tank can sit on the floor in the basement until I'm ready. Doesn't bother me any! Heh.)

Ideally I'd like a tank that is ~6 feet long and ~2 feet deep. Height would be negotiable.

I was wondering if there were any good places in Ottawa to either order the tanks from or get something custom done. I realize custom is usually just as expensive as a new tank, but this way I'd be able to customize dimensions a little bit.

I'm looking to spend no more than $1000, tax included, on the tank. The less the better, obviously.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

You can do the following:

Search Websites: ottawapennysaver.com, Google Groups "ott.forsale aquarium", ebay.ca, post a "Looking for" on this Ovas website

Get an Ovas membership then go to BigAls and buy a tank and get %15 off. Sometimes they have good sales too if you are willing to be patient.

i bought mine at aquarium services for 600$ at the time..its 130g :)
370g System

220g tank, 65g Sump. octopus Cone skimmer xp-5000, vertex zf-30 nitrate reactor, RX6 DUO Ca reactor, Mp60w Ecotech pump, 2x 400w MH XM bulbs 15k. All controlled with DA RKE-net controller, Water Blaster HY-3000 return pump, Vertex Zf-15/Carbon, Vertex Zf-15/GFO

Do not buy any tank at Big Al's Ottawa... they are WAY overpriced. The Big Al's in Montreal has a 180g with duel overflows for 649$. For some reason the tanks there are more manageable pricewise.

NjOyRiD

are you serious, is there a site on the internet i can go and look at the prices?

Being a Super Pet employee, I would be less likely to buy from BA anyway.

DARKPHREAK

Theres no site but generally the Big Al's in Montreal have WAY better prices then locally. Everything seems better and cheaper in Montreal and depending on what your buying its worth the trip.

You can buy 2 180g and a 100g tank at BA in Montreal for the price of a single 220 here... you do the math...

I've consistently found the best prices on new tanks at Roy's Petshop down in Kingston. Family owned business, been around for years, and nice people to deal with. And probably a closer drive than going to Montreal.

Tell them Ron sent you :)
