Hello,
Please forgive me if someone else has already asked this but what is a true SAE?  I think they have what seem to be SAEs at Walmart (I know many of you do not like to buy fish there) but I was wondering if anyone knows if that is in fact what they are.  The reason I am asking is that my first attempt at a planted tank has turned into a perfect growth environment for green hair algae and brush algae.  Any other ideas about how to get rid of this stuff (without chemicals) would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dana

If it's a true SAE, the black stripe should go all through the tale. In flying foxes, the stripe goes all the way but there is also a lighter colour stripe just above the black stripe.

This may be another dumb question but will a Flying Fox eat algae if I happen to get one by mistake?  From the article it appears as though the true SAE is the only one that eats red algae, but that is not a problem in my tank.
Thanks for the article, it answered a lot of my questions.
