Red macro

Ive been noticing that some of the red macro algae will turn a fluorescent orange for a few days then disappeared in my tank. Has anyone else seen this before? What is it?

Now that is some serious overkill in the research department. What an article. I feel I have a degree in Red Macro Algae now
