Acrylic and glue

Is there a reason I shouldn't use Acrylic instead of PVC for (example) building a DIY Co2 reactor (or whatever else) ?

What kind of glue should I use ? 

I need something to join Acrylic to Acrylic, as well as PVC to Acrylic.
