I'm really happy with how this tank is turning out after a year or so and wanted to share a video of it here. It's a 75 gallon with 24 mid-size Tropheus sp. black (Bemba), and right now, 8 cyprichromis (utinta) who are destined for a tank of their own very shortly. They keep breeding in the 75, despite the trophs, but they may be distracting the bembas from taking care of their own business. Out they go.

There's also a lone goldhead comp who somehow evaded capture (and detection for a number of weeks) when I sold off his tankmates last year.

Heavy algae growth on the 3d background is mowed down by the tropheus and what remains gives it extra pop. For filtration and water movement, I have an AC110, AC70, Eheim 2028 II and a Koralia 4.

Congratulations on a superb job aquascaping that tank - very well done and the fish seem to be enjoying it by the vid attached. Definitely one of the nicer tanks I have seen.

Just curious - where are the intake tubes for the filters? I couldn't see them in the video.

Nice!
Is that a 3d background?  Where did you get it?

Demasonian

Thanks!

Inputs for all three filters are behind the background. There are two holes in the background, one in the top left corner and the other behind rocks on the lower right to allow good circulation from front to back. I vacuum any waste that doesn't make it back there, but to be honest, it's not usually that much.

The background is a 3D model from Aquaterra (http://www.aquaterra-intl.com/index.html) and I ordered it from a guy out in Edmonton (http://www.gillsnfins.ca/). At the time, he had the best rates, but they can also be found in T.O. for around the same price...

Any chance you could tell me what this is made of, weight etc.  I am interested and willing to dig for it but want to make sure I wont need a truck to move it..

Thanks

Demasonian

Can't remember the exact details, but I think it was about 2lbs (that's two lbs)  :) Just industrial grade foam, formed and painted...no truck required. If you check the site details, they list the various measurements. Mine was 48" x 20" (I think), just big enough to fit a 75. It's about 4 inches at its maximum depth, front to back...so I wouldn't recommend anything smaller than a 75, with this particular stle, or you'll lose too much space in the aquarium...They make other thinner styles if that's a concern, and much bigger ones if it isn't...
