Hey all - if you buy dead/dry rock from say marco's rock or any LFS for that matter.... is there a significant risk in adding small chunks say a 5-10lbs at a time into an established tank?

I would suspect that any small amount of curing required by the rock the bacteria in the tank should be able to handle that without issue of ammonia spike no?

I am adding 250lbs of Marco rock on day one to my established tank.  There is no risk.. rinse it well so you do not get a dust-cloud... common sense applies... but it's no issue.

Its the die off of live rock that will spike a cycle. Dead/dry rock wont disrupt the bio filtering in a negative way. When I started I had minimal live rock so I added 40 lbs of dry in one shot and there were no signes of a spike whatsoever
