Dave and Diane

Hi everyone,

For months we have been hearing a clicking in the tank, 10 fish have gone missing and 2 corals were killed. I was about to crash my tank today. Moved out all my corals and picked up my first rock to dip in Carbonated water and this popped out. is there anyone that can tell me if it it the nightmare mantis.

Thank you

Sharbuckle

the picture is a little blurry but it kind of looks like one, is the little bugger still alive?

Dave and Diane

It's still moving in the container, not sure for how long

Sharbuckle

too bad your so damn far away i would love to take it from you

If she can keep it alive, I have to drive there this coming Sunday. (come h*** or high water).  So if you want it, I can bring it as far as the tims in Arnprior area (the one barely off the hwy).

looks super cool for sure!

Im well schooled in matis shrimp but that does not look like one any chance you could take an in focus picture?

greddy

Its hard to say with the pic, but it looks like a type of worm. If it scoots around in the water (ie: swims around) it could be a mantis. If its always crawling around the base or sides its probably a worm.

A better pic would help.

White Lightning

Looks very simular to a mantis but some subtle differences as well. Since removing it from your tank have you still noticed the clicking sound?

Maxthecat

looks a bit like a mantis, but based on what it did already, chances are that it is

Dave and Diane

Trapped a total of 8 of these things ranging in lenght from 1 inch to 2 1/2 inches.
Clicking has stopped, no more missing snails, hermts or fish.
