or you could adapt the trap structure used in Birch bay Washington state to catch him.....

it is a pyramid shape when closed.  when open it lays flat with bait on the "base section" on the pyramid.  There is a yoke that goes to the outer tip of the three side walls, and a single line which goes to the surface.

when ye ol evil crab goes fo re bait, he gets an express lift to the surface.  The trap material could be easily fashioned from door screen and a few coat hangers...

Let me know if you do this.  It ought to work quite well, as the Dungeoness crabs get the ol' elevator lift every day or two, and usually with luck more than one comes up.

if you get ahold of the crab i think "snigger" is looking for evil crabs!

Those claws look pointy enough for me to throw the book at him and have him evicted.

thanks new2salt...The claws are pointed and black. I will attempt that trap.

I had the same kind in my tank. It's bad. Took me a while to get him. I got home one night pretty hammered at 3 am go downstairs and look at my tank. I see him bothering my corals. Maybe because i was loaded i just yanked the rock out and he wouldn't let go. i kept flicking him until he did let go and gave him away.

Yes I know I've posted this before but your crab looks a lot like my dearly departed Jon Coffey, although he was basically a brown emerald crab with black tipped tongs for claws.
