G'day,

I'm trying to stabilize my tank parameters after a move, and am considering getting a PH pen to replace my test kits that give different readings.  Are they reliable?  Where's a good place to get one in the Ottawa or Gatineau area?  Any model recommendations?

Thanks!

BigDaddy

If you have a single tank, I would recommend a pH monitor over a pH pen.  They are far more reliable and accurate.  I'd only get a pen if you were monitoring multiple tanks.

That being said, the Hanna pens have a fairly good reputation.  Check with the local area hydroponics stores.

njoy:

The pens are usually anywhere from $50 to $80 bucks depending on the quality.  I don't know of anywhere in Hull that has them.

Bought my pH monitor, extra probe and calibration fluid on Ebay for around $90 CAD, including shipping.  Extremely accurate and reliable.  It's been continually monitoring my pH for a year and a half without a problem.

BTW, this is Nelson actually, had to create a new account until Marc gets my log-on problem rectified :?

Thanks for the link and info... I will probably consider the pH monitor for the longer term.  I ended up getting my water pH tested at a LFS with an actual pH pen, and I was able to determine which of my test kits I need to throw out.   Cost was $2 but interestingly enough, they give the money from water tests to a local charity.   :)

I got a Hanna CHECKER1 for about 30$ on ebay. Works great.
