Hi
I have some brown spots on my Java fern . Does anyone know what causes them and how to get rid of them.
I would appreciate any comments on this problem.

Hi James,

I seem to recall that java fern consumes a lot of potassium. The necrosis may be due to lack thereof. If you are using Ottawa City water, try adding 2 cc. of potassium sulfate per 100 liters. That's about 8 ppm or so of potassium. You don't really state whether the plants are growing fast, or any other conditions in your tank, so an answer to your question is most difficult. It is however, an inexpensive experiment

Hi
The plants are growing fine. other than the brown spots. They are in my A. Cichlid tank. I did not anchor them , they are just left floating. But most of them through  time have setlled down
