To reply to the OP question, you don't need CO2 or high light for those plants.

Hey,

I use the same system, its a passive diffusion system. It doesnt work like your typical system, with the CO2 tank always on, it just slowly leeches out, and hopes for the best. If anything it just introduces you to the CO2 world of planted tanks than anything. The 88g version is more like the real CO2 versions out there.

This should be turned out for 10 seconds, fill the Chambers, than let it idle for 1/2 the day, rinse repeat. I fill mine when I feed my fish (Morning / Night). Seems my plants are doing better with it, not a crazy amount, but a little bit.

I would, personally not recomment this system, after much use (6+ months) and multiple cartridge refills I think I should have spent the extra money and got the 88g version.

I would suggest you do the same. Passive Diffusion is, hope for the best, not reliable and not really a good source of CO2.

as for Saltcreeps comments for Airgun cartridges, there is multiple threads on different forums about how the Fluval Mini CO2 system has different threading for their cartridges, so unless your a good DIY person, your gonna have a hard time using those.

Probably true. The powerlets and the ones sold for spritzers are pierced by a hollow needle when you load the cartridge - no threads involved. That's one of the big problems with 'specialty' products.

For now I just wanna see how this works. Quick question though, is the bottom of the diffuser suppose to be open or is it closed at both ends with a hole in the top where the hose goes in?

Yams

Bottom is supposed to be open. Top is where the Airhose goes into. Fill it up,  than the CO2 slowly leeches out. Your picture below has it set up right.

K perfect, just wanted to be sure.

Also how is this bulb for plant growth and a white-ish tint?

Saltcreep

Probably OK for growth, but if you're looking for something white-ish, I'd say look for 6500K to 6700K. 5500K is leaning toward the yellow side - I think it's a bit of a stretch calling it Daylight.

I have the same CO2 set up... when I bought the product, the cartrage was actually empty (drove me insane trying to figure out what was wrong with my assembly before figuring out to open it underwater and no bubbles was the giveaway). Took it back to La Niche where Marc-Andre exchanged and then showed me the proper assembly and how it should look/feel when opening the CO2 into the diffuser.

It's a bit tricky, fairly expensive, but I have noticed a decent improvement in some (definately not all) of my plants. I bought this as a way to get a little more comfortable with CO2 before making the move to a bigger tank/setup.

I'll support most of the advice that you got on here. If you have any questions with stuff your buying at your LFS, go and ask them! I'm sure everyone of them in the area would be more than willing to help you out!
