I just recently picked up a 125G and want to re-silicone it.  I have been researching older forums regarding this and have a pretty good idea what to however my concern is removing all of the silicone complete and trying to hold this beast together.  I read that silicone will not adhere to cured silicone and this changes my theory of doing this in stages.  Can the silicone between the glass be done first and then a second layer of sealing silicone be applied?

Any idea's?

You dont have to remove the silicone inbetween the panels. Just all of the exposed silicone. The tank will remain together with out any help.

Resealing a tank is demonstrated well by Uarujoey's video.

If the silicone between the glass is significantly degraded, you will lose a significant amount of structural strength.  Resealing will not help with this structural strength.  If this is the case you may need to rebuild the tank, by taking the tank completely apart and basically building a new tank using the old glass.  Having resealed and rebuilt many tanks when I worked for a manufacturer, rebuilding is needed very rarely and is a much larger job (In fact it was cheaper to build a new tank on anything less then 120g then to rebuild it).

Thanks to everyone for the reply.  This will just be a re-seal job and I'm thankful thats all.  Here's to trying new things and hoping 125G of water doesn't find it's way to my floor. :)
