Glass drilling & Custom Glass?

Does anyone know someone who does glass drilling in Ottawa? As in, where to get a tank drilled? Or does anyone here on OVAS do it - with experience. I wouldn't want the tank cracking!  :lol:

Also does anyone know of a place that would do a custom glass tank design for me? I give the measurements they give me a nice glass tank?

And even better... Does anyone know of a place that'd do both for me at once?

I know Aquaria Canada can order custom tanks.  Mucho denaro though.

LeeValley tools sell an excellant glass drill bit, different sizes... and not expensive around $12.00.....its diamond tipped ....they`ll walk you through the proceedure at the counter...  You can always do a test run !!.....                          John

If you try to do it yourself, find out if the tank is made from tempered glass first.  I don't know of a visual way to tell the difference but tempered glass will shatter if you drill it.

No problem.

I know that M&T Glass on Cyrville road will drill holes in glass (www.mtglass.com).  They also cut glass to your sizes.  I don't know if they can build an aquarium though.

A nice young lady in Superpet Merivale said they can order custom tanks, so I asked for 2 quotes.  That was about a month ago, I check once, she is still waiting.

if a tank is tempered it uaually has a sticker on the crossbrace on the underside of the tank facing up that alerts you to this.
