Problem with Skimmer

I bought this used HOB Coralife skimmer..  I'm not sure of the exact modelm think it's for 65g. It's making  A LOT of bubbles in my tank, to the point where I can barely see what's in it... I turned it off in the meantime, my tank is not even 2 days old , so the cup keeps filling like crazy. I'm pretty sure it's set correctly and I've tried tampering with it but nothing seems to help! Nothing is blocking it, and it doesn't seem damaged in any way.  Is there a way to fix this? I'm ready to build a sump too if I can hide that thing, I just need a little guidance on how to make this happen, what to buy exactly etc.

Thanks for the help!

Skimmers do tend to have a break in period so you will have to account for that.  If it is filling the cup to fast turn down the flow until you get the skimming action you want.  I have mine set for a once a week full cup.  I usually skim a little on the wetter side of things more stuff out.
Is this your skimmer?

If so you will probably want to tune it to work similar to this video.  Again though there is a break in period so you will have to monitor it closely for the first 1-2 weeks.

Here is a video from Mr. Saltwater Tank.  A lot of people like what he says.  Here is a tuning video on how to get it to work the best.

Oh about the cup filling, that I know lol... I had a 90g before and I know it's normal for them to fill up a lot when you set them the first days...  Even if it's on the lowest setting, It filled 4 times in a day. My biggest problem is the bubbles IN the tank, like when it shoots back the clean water in the tank... really don't know how you call that.. I'd like to say return pump but i'm not sure if its called like that...

I can make a video tonight to show you.. Sorry about the explanation, I know it's confusing :/

In this case a sponge might help you out a lot.  If you rig up a sponge on the return line to the tank it should get rid of them for you.  Or a sump :)

Perfect, I'll add one and see if it helps. Thanks a lot!

it's exactly what I have... and yeah I think I have the bubble diffuser.. Can I remove it?

when i had a coralife 125 skimmer, I had to shorten the tube that the pump connects to the skimmer with. The intake had to be just an inch or so under the water line. Also the venturi would clogg with salt almost every other day and cause it to overflow

I'm really thinking about setting up a sump now... I never had any skimmer problems with my 90g and it was the same model as yours I think... What I don't understand is, when I bought the skimmer, it was plugged and working (on the same setup, I bought it as a kit) and it wasn't making those bubbles. I find it pretty stupid that there is no valve to control the bubble flow.  There's only one valve to close the flow of water to change the cup without needing to unplug it.
This is my first  hang on back skimmer, on my previous small tanks I relied on aqua clears and frequent water changes.
