Yet another dumb plant question

Ok, so I have a bunch of Giant Hygro plants in one of my tanks.  Here's the weird part...they appear to be growing roots out of the sides of their stems...

And I'm not talking about just above the substrate.  One of them has "roots" growing out of the first 3 inches of the stem.  They are visibly extending each day...

Is this normal?

I have this too ,i seem to remember somebody posting that this is a sign that the plant is  looking for some sort of nutrient, not sure what.

It is normal.

You can either leave 'em... trim 'em... or add a bit more ferts and see if they keep popping up.

I'll leave em and see what happens...

darkdep:  I just got some clippings from a friend about a week ago and they're growing like crazy but have those little root things you speak of.
