Hi everyone,

I signed on here along time ago but I have been irregular in my visits to the site!

A lot has changed, so I thought I would reintroduce myself for the many of you who don't me.

Well lets see - I recently moved and in so doing I upgraded a couple of 25s to a 75gal. It is still a work in progress, as time only permits me to do so much!

I plan on converting it into a NPT, with a semi-Amazon River biotope design. I say "semi" because not all of the species of fish and plants will necessarily belong there. lol

I am also redoing my 10 gallon betta tank and turning that in to a NPT as well.

Finally, I have a 30 gallon just for apple snails. Its not planted because of the canas.
Oh, and I also have 5gal fry tank for sterbai cories.

I keep:
Angels, corydoras sterbai, home raised honey gouramis, bettas, a BN pleco, apple snails (pomacea diffusa/bridgesii, pomacea canaliculata), tylomenia, and unintentionally, bladder snails. I breed the apples.

I think that's it, for now. I will be adding a large school of some tetra (thinking rummynose) to the 75 to go with 6 angels, 10+ cories (currently 7), the BN, and maybe the 12 honeys. I think I'll break them up though - I have too many males.
That should stock it.

Other things about me - I have two Dachshunds, Finnigan and Gilligan, I work with the senior population, I love animals, nature and art. :)

Thanks for reading!

Welcome back to the boards Laura!

You have a few projects on the go and it will be interesting to follow them. You should start build threads on the "Freshwater Tank Builds" sub-forum and share your experiences with everyone (and post lots of pictures, everyone loves pictures  ;)).

I'm particularly interested in your "semi-Amazon River biotope" as I'm currently setting up an SA community tank.

There's a good bunch of friendly people around here. Don't hesitate to contribute and ask around  :)

Thank you everyone!

I will definitely be keeping a record of my progress on the tanks. Right now the 75 is just a mish mash of fake/live plants thrown in, bare bottom, complete with a fry net and an ugly fake log that I simply cannot remove because it's the plecos, and he won't let me. lol I plan on covering it with java moss and shoving it in the back somewhere so I won't have to look at it. lol For some reason, he doesn't appreciate the real DW logs.

The 10 is currently a plant/bladder snail ::) nursery, so my 2 betta boys are not too impressed with me about having to wait for their divided home to be finished construction! I am also slow about getting the third boys NPT up and going. I am failing as a fish mom!

The real fun begins when I have to drain the 75, move everyone and everything out temporarily, (the pleco gets bagged in his log)lol and then rinse out the soil, arrange the hardscape, plant, and add gravel, maybe sand, and then refill, check parameters, and then throw everyone back, including the 4 new angels, which are in quarantine in the 30.
I also have 2 older (about 3years old) angels that are currently separated. I think* they are male/female, but they have a rough history and I don't think she will let him forget it! lol
The four juvies seem to have worked out their pecking order, so I will keep my fingers crossed that everything will work out when they all meet together.
And, until I can acquire a few more specific plants, I will likely have to throw back a few large fake ones to help break lines of sight for the angels. So this could take forever!

Eric - do you have a thread going about your SA tank? I'd like to see what you're stocking/planting, etc. :)

Where  would be the best place to start one for a tank build?
*EDIT: haha, I just there is a "freshwater tank build" section.

And don't worry, I take millions of pictures!!! :)
