Is it safe to have one of these lobsters in a Malawi Cichlid tank?

Feivel

Lobsters are predatorial they will eat what they catch :-)  at least crayfish will. They will eventually get big enough they may nip at and or kill the bigger fish.

I thought the Malawi cichlids would be aggressive enough to thwart the attempts of the lobster...thanks for the warning :)   p.s. I think it is a fancy name for a red crayfish similar to the electric blue lobster.

Brine

I did it ....so long as everyone has a place to hide.
This is my tank

Can and should are 2 different things.  Yes, you can put one in like brine has done and it can work, but those species of crayfish are not meant to be in waters that warm for long periods of time.  They tend to do much better and live longer lives when kept at room temperature waters.

It's not just the crayfish getting the fish in the tank either.  You have to worry about the fish getting the crayfish when it molts.  When a crayfish molts it's shell, it's super soft and a fish of any size can bite holes in it, rip it's limbs off...anything and the crayfish can't do anything about it.
