Hello all
I have kept fish cichlids for around 10 years before my kids were born, when they came along 3 boys I found a lack of time for fish. I came home one day after work to find the water in my aquarium milky white apparently my 3 year old dumped a glass of milk in the tank. I then decided to take a break from fish keeping.
Now my kids are grown up youngest is eighteen I have more time to get back into the hobby.
I now have a 29gal planted with Barbs

Welcome back to the hobby. The same thing happened to me, I took a hiatus from the hobby when my son was born, and got back into it when he showed interest in keeping a goldfish at 4 years old. He's now 16 and I have four tanks running, with a fifth on its way, a couple more on the shelf dry.

I found you browsing the net looking for Canadian forums very happy your local.

Actually I kind of fell back into it when my 18year old gave me a ten gallon for Christmas 2012. My wife was not at all pleased I had sold all my tanks and equipment  20 years earlier and she knows me very well. I set up the 10g early January and let her pick the fish so I had 4 barbs walking out of the fish store in town. I wanted Tetras because I new it was going to be a planted tank but she liked the tiger barbs passed her nose up at Cichlids which I had before.  I knew that Barbs need a larger tank but being very small fish I could hopefully get her intrested after all who doesent like looking at a fish tank when someone else ( me ) is doing all the work.
after the fish settled in with only 4 in a ten gallon the male started corralling the other fish behind plants and would not let them out . so March rolled around , my birthday and with a carfully planed trip to Big a,s I managed to swing a 29g I am happy with that I don't need any bigger . ;)
