My two new jewel cichlids just spawned. And its a LOT of babies. Should I be doing something here or just let them take care of things? Should I be getting ready to move them out of the tank? Assuming things go well, how many of them are likely to survive? There are only two other cichlids in there (yellow labs?) and they cant get anywhere near them without being chased off.

When I used to have my big cichlid tank i would just leave the fry in the tank, with all the rock I had I found it very difficult to catch them without the other fish eating them in the process. The ones that were smart and hid in the rocks until they were big enough to come out survived and the rest became food rather quickly, I would get a couple survivors each batch. I guess it really depends on your end goal.

Do I need to feed something else, other than flakes or pellets, or do the parents take care of that?

I would just feed flakes and make sure I broke some of them up really small, and they would come out really quick grab some and then swim back in. I had demasoni and yellow labs.

mine were mouth brooders so when i could tell she was holding i would put here in a holding tank so that maximum number of babies would survive but it depends on what you want. you could do that with the next batch.
