Planted tank substrate

How does one, supplement nutrients into a planted tank after the nutrient deplete from the substrate? Other then using root tabs.

Micro and macro nutrients can be purchase in a bottle.

You can buy dry fertilizers or purchase them premixed from your local fish store. Our local outlet for dry ferts is B&B Hydroponics. But for plants that mostly root feed, substrate fertilization works well.

Some serious planted tank folks use garden fertilizers like jobes sticks, or make their own capsules out of osmocote etc. But I would caution to begin very gradual.
